Puan Maharani

Born in Jakarta, September 6, 1973, 44 years old is an Indonesian politician who served as the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture of the Republic Indonesia in the Working Cabinet (2014-2019). Puan had served as Chair of the PDI Perjuangan fraction in the DPR RI for 2012-2014. In the DPR, Puan Maharani was in Commission VI which oversees BUMN, Trade, Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, as well as members of the board of BKSAP (Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency) and also as Chairperson of the PDI Perjuangan fraction in the DPR replacing Tjahjo Kumolo who has served for nine years.

The granddaughter of the first Indonesian President, Soekarno and the Daughter of the 5th President of Republic Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri from her marriage to Taufiq Kiemas has known the world of politics from a very young age. She was a Communication Science graduate from the University of Indonesia and she continued the political tradition in the Soekarno family.
