Prof. Nila Djuwita F. Moeloek, SpM (K)

Born in Jakarta April 11, 1949, 69 years old is the Indonesian Minister of Health in the Working Cabinet of President Joko Widodo. She is also an ophthalmologist and Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (FKUI).


Nila Moeloek is the daughter of a Minangkabau migrant couple. She completed her undergraduate education at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia. Then she continued her eye specialist education, and attended a sub-specialist program at the International Fellowship at the Orbita Center, University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands and at Kobe University, Japan. After that she continued her education on Eye Oncology and Post-graduate Doctoral Program at FKUI.

In addition to being a doctor at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, she was also the general chairman of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (2004-2009), Chair of the Ophthalmologist Association (Perdami), and General Chair of the Indonesian Cancer Foundation (YKI) for the period 2011-2016. Prof. Nila was mentioned as a strong candidate for the Minister of Health in the United Indonesia Cabinet II after following the selection process for the ministerial candidate on October 18, 2009, however she was instead appointed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to become the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic Indonesia for the Millennium Development Goals. Her task is to reduce HIV- AIDS cases and maternal and child mortality rates.


Nila is the wife of Faried Anfasa Moeloek, Minister of Health at the Development Reform Cabinet. She was blessed with three children, namely Muhammad Reiza Moeloek, Puti Alifa Moeloek, and Puti Annisa Moeloek.
